Beki Baker is the Chair of Theatre at Lipscomb University, where she teaches performance and directing courses, produces the theatre season, teaches in the Honors College, and serves as Director of Curriculum for the College of Entertainment and the Arts. At Lipscomb, she has directed Much Ado about Nothing, The Pajama Game, Pride’s Crossing, The Glass Menagerie, Dancing at Lughnasa, She Loves Me, and Silent Sky. Professional directing credits for Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Ingram New Works Festival include Together We Are Making a Poem in Honor of Life, Showing, Pattern Seeking Animals, and The Very Last Wishes of Grandpa Joe. Beki also directed Julius Caesar (starring Eddie George), Shakespeare’s Case, and Love’s Labor’s Lost (AD) for the Nashville Shakespeare Festival where she served as Education Director 2010-2012. Blackbird Theater Company directing credits include Man and Superman and The Crucible. She also directed Broadway star Eden Espinosa in Tarzan for the National Association for Music Education as well as Tony Award nominee Elizabeth A. Davis in Tablerock Repertory Theatre’s Tomorrow. She was awarded a First Night Star Award in 2013 for her work in Nashville theatre, and received First Night Outstanding Director nominations for Man and Superman and The Crucible, as well as several BroadwayWorld Best Director nominations. She has received two Excellence in Directing awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and three Outstanding Professor nominations at Lipscomb University. She holds an M.F.A. in Directing from Baylor University.
