Rich is a lighting and scenic designer who is active in the national leadership of USITT, is a Fellow of the Institute and was a Commissioner of the Lighting Commission from 1998 to 2006. His professional credits include numerous regional and stock productions throughout the East Coast and Midwest as well as a number of New York regional and Off and Off-Off Broadway credits including: Circle Rep, Broadhollow Productions, and The Jean Cocteau Rep. He is author of the well-received lighting text, Stage Lighting: Fundamentals and Applications (soon to be released in its 2nd edition), as well as a number of feature articles and reviews for theatrical trade publications and editorial roles for USITT publications. He also designs architectural/landscape lighting, has earned the LC Lighting Certification (LC) and holds memberships in IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) and IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers).
