Scott Mackenzie

Dr. Mackenzie is Professor and Director of Theatre and Chair for the Department of Theatre and Dance at Alma College in Alma, MI. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Acting at Michigan State University and Ph.D. from the director/scholar program at Wayne State University. He was awarded the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion for excellence in theatre education and the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) /Association of Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) Prize for Innovation in Teaching Theatre.  From 2014-2016, he was chair of KCACTF Region II. Before coming to Alma, he spent fifteen years on the faculty of Pennsylvania's Westminster College. Current research interests are devised, theater and social engagement, and theatrical adaptation. While on active duty with the U.S. Army Reserve he directed Bigfoot Stole My Wife, the first play produced by civilian and military personnel serving in Baghdad's International Zone.
