Jamie is a computer science, engineering, and robotics teacher at Fort Payne High School.  Seven years ago he started two FIRST LEGO League robotics teams and the program has succeeded beyond his dreams. Now, Fort Payne City Schools has all year long FIRST Robotics competition teams from 4th grade through high school. In addition, the school system offers computer science and robotics classes to the whole student population as well.  The Gigawatts team has won many prestigious awards from state championships to international awards to the National Space Club Rising Star Award to FIRST's most prestigious award the Chairman's Award. They are only the third team to win this award from the state of Alabama. These accomplishments are rewarding, but the relationships and growth of his students is the true reward.  Always, we are not using students to build a robot, we use the robot to build the student.
