Bruce Speas is an Associate Professor in the Theatre, Art and Graphic Design and Animation Department at Longwood University. He currently serves as Longwood's Theatre Program Coordinator and Resident Director. His teaching duties focus primarily on directing and theatre history. While at Longwood his directing assignments have included such shows a Shakespeare's Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Midsummer's Night Dream and Measure For Measure; Anouilh's The Lark and Antigone; Strindberg's A Dream Play; Ayckbourn's Table Manners; Wasserstein's The Heidi Chronicle; Dana Son's Stop Kiss and numerous other productions. He has directed professionally at the Clarence Brown Theatre with productions of Yasmina Reza's Art, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, and Steven Mallatratt's The Woman in Black. He was the Managing Director of the Raft Theatre in New York for several years. He received his MFA in Directing from Virginia Commonwealth University. Bruce's work in theatre spans over 30 years.
